What we’re about
This Shabbat Service is for beginners to Judaism. It's easy-going and crisp, starting on time and only 45-60 minutes long. It's called Friday Night Live as a take-off on Saturday Night Live and is slightly irreverent. The Rabbi is young, enthusiastic, and gears his service to beginners. It's mostly in English with a few prayers in Hebrew with transliteration if you want to join in. You don't have to sing, pray, or do anything but observe if that suits you. You don't even have to laugh at the "joke of the week" but you will. It's held every Friday night at 6:00 PM at the Boca Raton Synagogue which is an Orthodox congregation but that shouldn't scare you because the service is held in the Library, not the main sanctuary. Men and women sit together and usually at least a dozen people attend but the group is growing. It's free and you don't need to register or confirm. This is an outreach program for all ages who wish to gain a bit of Jewish knowledge. Try it once, you'll get hooked.
