54th Annual San Marcos River Clean Up March 1, 2025

**All participates must pre register with the event host by February 21.** Shirt Orders are due 2/14/25 If you are wanting to have at the cleanup.

On Saturday, March 1, Paddlers from all over Texas will be participating in the world's longest river clean up. Paddlers will be picking up trash along most of the San Marcos River (approximately 60 miles).
From San Marcos downstream all the way to Luling, canoeists, kayakers and rafters will be cleaning the river and the banks.
Kayaking Houston is one of the paddling clubs invited back to participate in the 2025 event. We will again OWN the section from Hwy 90 to Zedler Dam (6 mi.) which is a section of the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TWPD) paddling trail. Nice leisure paddle with moving water and small features.

**FREE CAMPING**
Everyone participating in this event is invited to camp free at the San Marcos River Retreat. Tom Goynes (TRPA President/Owner-Riverside Retreat) has reserved a group of sites for our team.

MEETING TIMES AND SHUTTLES
Kayaking Houston will assemble at our campsites at Riverside Retreat at 8AM Saturday morning and shuttle to the Luling 90 launch site. We will unload, shuttle to Zedler Mill and then after a pre-paddle/cleanup safety brief we will be on our way.

PRE-REGISTRATION: IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT EVERYONE PARTICIPATING IN THIS EVENT PRE-REGISTER OPENED at a later date.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS: to the San Marcos River Retreat
On google maps we show up as the “San Marcos River Scout Camp.”
Coming from Interstate 35 in San Marcos, get on Highway 80 and head toward Luling for 1.8 miles. Take a right on county road 101. Take an immediate left onto county road 102. Go 1/2 mile on 102 and take a right on Pecan Park road. Keep going straight (past TG Canoes and Kayaks) and the road will end at the San Marcos River Retreat office. As with all Kayaking Houston events, paddlers will provide their own paddling gear and will wear an appropriate PFD (personal flotation device) at all times while on the water. Bring snacks and plenty of hydration with you. An accessible whistle (signaling device) is required at all times while on the water.

You must be capable of paddling your own kayak down-river on moving water with small features.

If you have an inflatable, contact host to discuss prior to RSVPing.
NO EXCEPTIONS

NOTE: We will do some sort of informal paddle Sunday morning. Section of river and timing of launch will be determined by current water flow and how late we stoked the campfire:)
