Candlelight Tour at Fort Scott

The Local Outdoors Program of the Kansas City Area Sierra Club coalition is organizing a group to attend, led by our host and his guest. Step back in time and experience history in a whole new light. Wander through the beautifully illuminated historic buildings and immerse yourself in tales from the past, brought to life by reenactors performing captivating vignettes.

📅 Date: December 7, 2024 🕗 Time: 8:00 PM (Please arrive by 7:30 PM)

📍 Location: Fort Scott National Historic Site, Fort Scott, Kansas

As a dedicated backpacker, first and foremost, I'm giving fellow backpackers a five-day window from my posting of this on Meetup to secure their spots first. We have a total of ten tickets available—two for my guest and I, and so eight for others. When you RSVP you'll be on the waitlist until I get to the next steps.

Keep an eye on the weather forecast; December can be unpredictable—sometimes balmy, sometimes icy/snowy. Factor the weather into both your attire and the time you allot to drive there and back. On your own: consider the possibility of eating dinner in Ft. Scott beforehand and staying over afterwards.

Dress warmly and get ready for a night filled with history, charm, and flickering candlelight. Whether you're a history buff or just looking for a unique holiday experience, this tour is sure to delight!

I've pre-paid for the tickets at $8 a pop. After I confirm you are "in", to secure your spot and officially be on the "going" list, you'll need to Venmo me. Consider it a digital handshake—once you send your funds my way, you're all set for a night of candlelit history. 🕯️📜

Refund Policy: Refunds requested after November 18, 2024 are a no-go. Don't even try (but, if a substitute is on hand, I will ask them to reimburse you for the ticket. We'll do this in the order you signed up.) I don't have the time to scramble to work on substitutes. If a refund is requested before then, I'll do it minus any Venmo charges to reverse the transaction.

The Outing officially begins & ends on the dates & the location designated by Sierra Club, there at Ft. Scott. The Outing does not include carpooling — at your discretion — transportation or transit to & from the Outing; each participant is personally responsible for all risks associated with this travel. Account for travel time when planning; we just show together time.
