Notice of Risks for all walks: You need to be moderately fit for this walk and able to walk for at least 8 miles. This walk is suitable for the average experienced hill walker. Expect some hills. Do not attend this walk if you do not fit that description or if you have a medical condition (especially heart and/or lung conditions) that may impact upon your capability of completing the walk.
These walks are city walks and countryside walks where all the usual risks of injury during such walks apply resulting from interactions with road traffic, joggers, cyclists, e-scooters,other members of the public, animals (farm, domestic and wild), plants (allergic reactions), uneven surfaces, including portruding tree roots and potholes and there may be low overhanging branches.
In these walks we cross busy roads, use towpaths alongside water, bridlepaths, country lanes and sometimes ill defined paths and tracks through woodland, bush and countryside. Some tracks may be muddy and slippery, and conditions may be wet and icy.
The walk leader is not and does not purport to be a professional guide, or a medical professional, but is instead a like minded individual who also enjoys hill walking and who is familiar with the intended route.
Do not attend these walks unless you accept and consent to the above risks. If you require insurance for these walks then you must arrange this yourself.

STOPOUT POINTS: Edmonton Green railway station.
SALMONS BROOK PROJECT:
This will be a part guided tour with some brief commentary in some places from Iain.
Salmon’s brook was one of the most polluted rivers in the UK. It suffers from contamination from farms, oily water washed off roads, silt and muck that goes down the drains, and chemicals like paints.
The Salmons brook healthy river challenge was created in 2012 by the department of energy to address the failing of the Salmons brook to comply with new EU rules which labelled it poor.
The charity Thames21 which has 7000 volunteers has been working to create sustainable drainage systems that mimic nature to treat the polluted water washed into the Salmons Brook every time it rains. A number of wetland areas have been created downstream which include natural filtering and trapping systems such as reed beds and gravel trenches to intercept storm water.
We will visit some of these today such as the wetlands area in Edmonton and the flood defence site at Grange ParkAll of the walks on this group are only £5 each to attend. Why pay more on other groups for overpriced walks with no afterwalk socialising!!

https://secure.meetup.com/LONDON-MEETUP-SOCIAL-GROUP-KENS-EVENTS/invite/Afterwards we will head off to a large pub a short ten minute walk past Acton Town Station, for drinks and a bite to eat (optional).
Gunnersbury Park is a large leafy park set between Brentford and Acton. It has formal gardens, green open spaces, lakes, historic buildings, a museum, and a network of tree lined paths. When visiting Gunnersbury Park Estate you can still see buildings and gardens that date from the time when it was a grand estate owned by Princess Amelia and the Rothschilds. Look across the Round Pond to the 18th century, classical Temple. When visiting the museum look up at the ornate painted ceilings of the Rothshilds, 'Large Mansion'.
The Museum: The large mansion in Gunnersbury Park is a historic (Grade ll* listed) Regency house which once belonged to the Rothschild family. It still retains a suite of grand reception rooms and magnificent original Victorian kitchens. Since 1929 the large mansion has also been the home to Gunnersbury Park Museum
COST: Members and guests of members who do not hold the Ken's Events card will be asked to pay £5 for this walk
