Hello, I’m Alex. I have been involved in the translation field for a long time, and I currently run a translation company. I enjoy building relationships and learning many things by conversing with various people through English conversation. Based on the many English conversation study groups I have participated in, I am starting a new English conversation study group.
In my study group, we always invite native English speakers. I believe it will be a great opportunity to learn expressions and culture by hearing directly from native English speakers. Every week, you can engage in English conversation with native English speakers and Korean people in a group of four for two hours. If you attend the second round, you will have even more time to discuss various topics with the native speakers and Korean in bar or restaurant.
Diversity English conversation literally means discussing various topics in depth with different people. We will cover many subjects, including domestic and international current affairs, marriage and childbirth, conflicts with bosses at work, employment issues, and welfare for the elderly and vulnerable populations, among others. The aim is to share diverse perspectives by listening to the opinions of various people on topics related to our lives.
It is the conversation with Korean and native English, so participants should be native English from US, UK, Ireland Canada, Australian, New Zealand and other English speaking countries.

010-6651-1692Like last week, there will be a total of 8 people: myself, a native speaker, and 6 members. If we gather 1 to 3 members (up to 5), we will hold the meeting as one group in one room for 2 hours. If 4, 5, or 6 members attend, we will split into two groups: my group and the native speaker's group, with configurations of 3/3, 3/4, or 4/4. After 1 hour, we will switch members. It should just involve us swapping places so that everyone can interact with the native speaker.
Even if just 1 member comes, we will still hold the meeting with a total of 3 participants.
This time, we will hold the meetup at Team Place, which is a 5-minute walk from Exit 1 of Hongdae Station. When you exit from Exit 1 of Hongdae Station and walk, you will see a Seven Eleven and Choi Woo-young Restaurant on your right. If you go down the stairs to the right of Choi Woo-young Restaurant, you will find Team Place. Please tell the counter that you are here for Alex's meeting, and you can come to Study Room 1.
When you arrive in the room, feel free to greet and chat with the members in English. During the discussion on each topic, you will briefly read the content and share your opinions freely. If the content is long, we can read only part of it and continue the discussion.
Here is the schedule for when we proceed as one group:
7:00 - 7:40 / Introductions and free talking.
7:40 - 8:20 / Discussion on the first topic.
8:20 - 9:00 / Discussion on the second topic and wrap-up.Here is the schedule for when we proceed with two groups:
7:00 - 7:20 / Introductions and free talking.
7:20 - 8:00 / Discussion on the first topic.
8:00 - 8:20 / Brief introductions and free talking.
8:20 - 9:00 / Discussion on the second topic.
9:00-9:10 / Everyone will move to the larger room for a newcomer introduction and wrap-up.After the first round of discussions ends at 9 PM, those who clicked the participation button for the second round will move to a place for drinks or a meal to engage in free talking in English. Details for the second round will be announced separately. Everyone who attended the first round, as well as other members who didn’t participate in the first round, can join.
The second round is expected to take place from around 9:20-9:30 to 10:20-10:45. If the atmosphere is good, we might even go until 11 PM. Since both the native speaker and I will be attending, we will hold the second round as long as at least one person shows up. The cost for the second round will be divided evenly among participants either by paying at the venue after the meetup or by posting the total expense receipt in the chat for everyone to deposit their share to the organizer.
