🏚 Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman 🏚
It's an unknown book for me. But people whisper about how they felt scared while reading this haunted house book. Some couldn't sleep. Others felt disappointed. What about you?
As for me, I'm curious for this story told from a 8-year-old child perspective.
Trigger warnings are available at the end of this post if you wanna check.
//SUMMARY//
(beware of spoilers)
To eight-year-old Bela, her family is her world. There’s Mommy, Daddo, and Grandma Ruth. But there is also Other Mommy, a malevolent entity who asks her every day: “Can I go inside your heart?”
When horrifying incidents around the house signal that Other Mommy is growing tired of asking Bela the same question, over and over . . . Bela understands that unless she says yes, soon her family must pay.
Other Mommy is getting restless, stronger, bolder. Only the bonds of family can keep Bela safe but other incidents show cracks in her parents' marriage. The safety Bela relies on is on the brink of unraveling.
But Other Mommy needs an answer.

//THE HORROR BOOK CLUB//
Horror is quite new to me, and I'm happy to discover its richness, powerful storytelling and the complex emotions it brings.
I would like other people to discover the genre too in a safe space (and maybe enjoy it, who knows)~ and share this passion with amateurs!
//TRIGGER WARNINGS//
