This is a long and challenging hike. Multiple elevations up to 1000 meter.
Please only join if you are up for a challenge at a quick pace.
Meeting point is outside of Demachiyanagi station.
Meeting time is 08.45 and we leave at 09.00.
(This is one hour earlier than the usual time.)
The route
We take the train to Shugakuin Station and then hike up Hiei.
Over hiei to Yokotayama and Misuiyama.
We end at Tōdera temple. This is the starting point for the next hike. From there we take the bus back to Demachiyanagi.
Around Kyoto in 10-ish days
This is the fifth part of the 'around Kyoto in about ten days` event series. You can join one, two or come along for the whole trip.
Roughly 10 participants
Due to the length of the hike, about 10 people can participate. Please only sign up when you really intend to come.
Safety and communication
It's likely that last minute messages through line, what's app or meetup chat are not read. (up to 30 minutes before leaving time).
This is because I'm talking to other members.
Your safety and wellbeing is the most important. We start and come back as a group. We go at the pace of the slowest walker.
Please follow instructions provided by the guide. This is to keep you and the group safe.
500 Yen
Participation is 500 yen. Please pay in cash upon arrival.
What to wear?
Please wear closed shoes. Sneakers are fine for this hike. Dress lightly and comfortably. Wear a backpack. NO hand- or shoulder bags.
What to bring?
Bring plenty of water, snacks and a packed lunch.
