Billinge Hill Super Six walk (6 mile easy walk)
Details
Want to get into walking? Why not join us as we launch our annual “Super Six” campaign of easy post Christmas and New Year walks specifically aimed at encouraging people who wish to give walking in the Lancashire countryside a try.
We guarantee a warm welcome, a smattering of humour and the likelihood of some mud so please ensure you wear suitable footwear and bring a waterproof jacket.
Our first Super Six walk of 2025 is a linear walk over Billinge Hill, a significant landmark between Wigan and St Helens. We will meet at Orrell Water Park and then catch the 10:45 bus for the 20 minute ride to Carr Mill. When we alight from the bus we will pass Carr Mill Dam, a reservoir for the old Sankey Canal and through the nice Sankey Valley Park to Billinge Hill where we will have great views of Manchester and Liverpool, weather permitting. From Billinge Hill we will drop down to Orrell Water Park and post walk refreshments. The walk is very easy with the only climb onto Billinge Hill which will be be taken sedately to ensure everyone makes it to the top comfortably.
Please ensure you are at the walk start at 10:30 to be in time for the bus. Bus fare is £2.
We ask for a small contribution toward Group funds from non-Ramblers members of £2 per walk.
Or why not join us and be part of the Ramblers
