What we’re about
A community of motivated people who are learning new languages.
We provide our members events to practice and hold conversations, build their confidence, improve their speaking and listening skills, and, of course, meet new people!
Join us on Fridays for our fornightly meetups and see our events in action!
Our events will occur at the restaurant Puerto Mio in El Puerto de Santa Maria.
Events:
We group 3-5 people who have two languages in common, first one being their native language and the other one they wish to practice.
We conduct a round of ‘language exchange’ in two phases of 10 minute conversations; one phase being in your native language and the other one in the language you would like to improve/practice.
We shuffle the groups and repeat the rounds after every 20 minutes for a total of one hour of our official ‘language exchange’ event.
Languages:
Languages are chosen based on the attendees’ preferences.
Usually groups are formed to practice English, French and Spanish.
Other possibilities include groups combining German, Portuguese, Italian, etc. as per the demographics of the particular event.
Side Note:
During each event, the organizers and the members share quality time meeting and greeting new people, learning new stuff, exchanging experiences, etc. in an encouraging atmosphere.
In order to ensure a pleasant event for all, we highly encourage our members to keep the following points in mind,
If you can’t make it to our event, please unregister from the event well ahead of time. This would help another one of our motivated members to participate!
[Note] We have a policy to ban a member for a month after three absences temporarily.
Our one-hour events are timed and usually start on time. We encourage you to be punctual to maximise your ‘language exchange’!
Motivated people are free to form groups and continue their evening in any fashion after our official event concludes.
In rare cases, if we find participants being intentionally disruptive, such as breaking away from groups or being offensive to someone, the organizers have the right to issue warnings and/or remove the participant from our community.
Enjoy!
Rest assured, the organisers are always working behind closed doors, experimenting with new ideas, making the events more fun, etc. The objective is always moving towards a better experience for all.
We thank you for your support, cooperation and contribution to our ever-growing community!
Happy ‘Language Exchange’ :)
