Several of us will be working on the Red Cedar River clearing log jams with chain saws and other tools on Saturday November 16 at 10:00 am. Meet us if you are able to help clear at the Harris Nature Center.

The river is currently running at 75 cfs on the USGS East Lansing gauge so it is suitable for river work. We will concentrate on the Harris to Legg Park section, and if we have enough folks to work, we could have a second crew working downstream from Legg to Ferguson Park.

Dress in waders or wet suits suitable for cold water and 50 degree temperatures. Our plan is to be wrapped up by 1:00 pm or so, depending on how things go. If there are areas too difficult to work on, we will report those details to Meridian Township Parks for future work.

As always, a life jacket must be worn and a 2024 waiver signed. In addition, only the owners of the chain saws are allowed to operate them. Hand saws are also ok if that is all you have to bring.

Although hunting is not allowed in Meridian Township Parks, please consider wearing orange just to be on the safe side while we are along the river.
