What we’re about
A group for adults of all skill levels who just want to hit! Did you used to play tennis, perhaps years ago, and now you're wanting to give it another try? This group is for you! Maybe you're athletic, looking for a new form of cardio and want to try tennis? This group is for you! Or maybe you're a skilled player, and/or you frequent clinics and lessons, but could use a low-takes place to try things out and practice? This group is for you too! Want to HAVE FUN? Get outside? Run around? But don't have much money to spend? Maybe you're kind of shy? I built this group for YOU!
I, myself was a 3.5 at my best years ago, probably a 3.0 now with a bad knee and an extra 10 lbs! (Maybe a bit more than that, let's be honest!)
I started this group in 2016 in Oregon, moved it to Florida, and then to Honolulu, where folks are still playing today. All groups (so far) were successful in the creation of a fun, cohesive community. Many lbs were lost, many friendships were made! Help me start this in Las Vegas!
When you join, please send me a message with your history of tennis, current skill level, location, and your ability to travel. I will try to accomadate players all over the city.
I attribute the success of these groups to a tried and true formula for play:
We hit in doubles formation (4 on a court) with music playing, rotating positions every two songs. Sometimes we play FRANCE or king of the court, but generally there are no serious games. Lots of folks find hitting partners in this group of similar skill level for game play outside the group. The group got so big in Honolulu that I had co-facilitators who held more competitive games for higher skilled players. We can get there, but have to start easy.
Since there is no competition, you're free to be absolutely terrible, rusty, out of shape, whatever, as long as you'll try and run for every ball. Rotation means you won't be paired up with the same hitting partner for long. Doubles means people tend to be evenly distributed. No games means no stopping and waiting, so an excellent cardio workout. Generally, we get a mix of everyone and the very skilled teach the not so skilled. It's a community effort to get outside and get some exercise. Showing off killer serves and trickshots no one can return not really encouraged, and I will relentlessly make fun of you for doing so ;)
Bring a can of balls and a racket. I have an extra if you need.
If you have kids, bring them. I have brought mine since babyhood. He will hang out on the side.
