What we’re about
The Las Vegas Mountaineers Club was founded in 1994 to provide our members with plenty of safe, exciting and enjoyable outdoor experiences. Our goal is also to provide the opportunity to form many new and lasting friendships. LVMC is committed to educating and training each of its members and enhancing our members’ mountaineering skills and outdoor leadership abilities. We take safety very seriously, and we promote the ethical use of wilderness resources during our training courses, hikes, climbs, backpacks, campouts, etc.
This group is for outdoor enthusiasts who want to broaden their skills in the areas of hiking, mountaineering, rock climbing, backcountry skiing, backpacking, ice climbing and the like. Training is one of our most important LVMC functions, and it is essential to learn safe and effective mountaineering practices if you plan to climb, trek or travel with the Las Vegas Mountaineers Club in mountainous regions. There is no instructor’s fee to members who want to take LVMC courses; however, this is not to imply our training is substandard. On the contrary, comparable training would cost an average of several hundred dollars per course.
In order to participate in our training courses and other activities via meetup.com or otherwise, you must become a member. LVMC is a non-profit club and all dues go to the purchase of club gear, website fees and other expenses that benefit our members. Annual membership is $15 for an individual, $20 for families or roommates, with discounts for joining for more than one year. Please visit our website to become a member via PayPal or mail.
