Please join us online for a peaceful half-hour of vegan-oriented meditation and mindful sharing. We’ll meditate together in silence for 15 minutes, then share brief thoughts on a topic related to compassion, mindfulness or veganism. Our aim through this practice is to cultivate greater internal peace and presence, and to bring greater mindfulness and compassion to our interactions with the external world and all its inhabitants.
We meet Monday evenings at 6pm Pacific / 7pm MT / 8pm CT / 9pm ET. Please note that while our route to mindfulness and compassion generally follows a vegan path, all are welcome – vegan, vegan-curious, and vegan-supportive. For our annual schedule and weekly discussion topics, click here.
Vegan Meditation is affiliated with the Compassion Consortium.
Please note these important details:
- As a security precaution, you must be signed in to a Zoom account to join the meeting. Zoom accounts are free at https://www.zoom.us/ (click signup) and you'll need to log in there BEFORE joining the meditation. If this is your first time, please register at that link in advance because doing so takes a few minutes.
- Please use a computer or tablet, as some Zoom features don’t work on a phone, and phones in general don't work well for our Zoom Meetups.
- Talking during the discussion is completely optional, but to help reduce trolling we ask that all participants keep their webcams on (and stay on webcam) during the entire session.
- Meditation begins promptly on the hour, so please arrive on time. When you enter, you'll see a meditation timer counting down from 15 minutes – that's your cue to begin meditating silently (or listen to your own guided meditation). We don't provide meditation instruction, but the basics are easy to learn through various online resources such as those here and here.
- While we officially end at the half-hour mark, depending on the number of people sharing, we may run later. If that happens, please feel free to stay or leave any time after the half-hour mark as you choose.
- The Zoom link will be displayed on the Meetup event page after you RSVP. We'll also send the Zoom link and discussion topic in a reminder email the day of the event. If you'd like to receive this reminder email, please keep your Meetup notification settings turned on.
See you soon!
- Bolsa Chica Wetlands walk + takeout group lunch at Loretta’s clubhouse in HB!Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, Huntington Beach, CA
Hello fellow nature aficionados!
Join us for a nature walk and/or poolside lunch by bringing your own alfresco meal from VegiOasis, another vegan restaurant, or BYO from home:
10am - 12:00pm/ Bolsa Chica nature walk
LOCATION: Bolsa Chica Conservancy Center (NORTH LOT)
3842 Warner Ave · Huntington Beach, CA (see map)Come to experience a beautiful 1.5 to 2-hour trail walk around Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve in Huntington Beach next to Pacific Coast Highway. We'll take an easy path accessible for all members of the group.
Wetlands are one of the most productive ecosystems on the planet! They support large numbers of plants and animals, and are highly dynamic. With several plant communities, and its uses as a rest stop for migratory birds, nursery for marine life, and haven for rare and endangered species, the wetlands abound with a multitude of wildlife!
We'll meet at 10am in front of the grey Bolsa Chica Nature Conservancy portable building. Please feel free to introduce yourselves as you come as familiar friends and newcomers are very welcome!
You'll find free parking in the small lot in front of the gray interpretative nature center building. If the parking lot is full, there is pay-by-the hour parking ($3/hour) across the street by the fire station or you can chance it at the Jack-in-the-Box shopping center parking lot.
*We will wait until 10:15am, decide as a group which loop/path to take, and head off to hike via pedestrian bridge.
No dogs or pets are allowed at this ecological reserve due to wildlife conservation measures.
It's a relatively flat gravel trail and there is very little shade, so it's handy to come ready with:
1. Plenty of water
2. Sturdy, closed-toed shoes and long pants recommended. There are lots of darting lizards and we could encounter other native critters.
3. A hat*Group lunch around 12:30pm dependent upon walking group transition time:
Order take-out dinner from VegiOasis, a vegan Japanese restaurant nearby, or bring yours from home:
Welcome to VegiOasis: https://vegioasis.com/
We are excited to announce that we are changing our name from VegiLicious to VegiOasis. As we embark on this new chapter, we are honored to continue the cherished legacy of Akira & Ana, who built this restaurant with a passion for quality, plant-based cuisine. As the new owners, we remain deeply committed to delivering the same delicious, ethical, and sustainable food that has made this place truly special.*Loretta's address will be emailed directly to RSVP'd attendees on the day to respect her privacy.
Looking forward to welcoming you with a beautiful wetland walk at Bolsa Chica + lunch and games with friends!
Happy trails,
