What we’re about

Our main purpose is to get together for enjoyable outside activities involving some type of fitness (walking, hiking, biking, kayaking, pickleball, etc.) One of our primary activities will be walking. It is a great low impact exercise that allows easy group conversation with very little costs… and you can practically meet anywhere. Also, most of our walks are dog friendly. There are a couple of exceptions which should be noted on the event description.

Most of the activities will be in the Galveston Bay Area (Clear Lake, League City, Kemah, Seabrook, Galveston) although we will venture out beyond at times.

This is a social group! Everything we do, can probably be done alone. However; it is much more fun to get together, meet more people, talk and share in the activity! We will have some events that are not necessarily fitness related, but are just for getting together.

A few ground rules for this group:

  • To be considered an active member, you must at least visit the group’s website or app at least once a year. Profiles that have not visited longer than a year will be removed. You are free to re-join, but to keep the membership numbers somewhat reflective to reality, inactive profiles will be removed.
  • This is a social group. This is NOT a pickup, hookup, or dating group. If people meet and find a connection… great! But, if your sole interest is finding a romantic partner or encounter, please go to a different group. It goes without saying, any unwanted advances or harassment will not be tolerated.
  • Please be respectful and update your RSVP. The biggest problems for event hosts are people no-showing. We love for new people to join us (that’s kinda what this is all about)! Our cellphones are almost always listed in the descriptions… please let us know if you are late, or can’t make it. Immediately before and during an event, don’t rely on the Meetup App for messaging. Sometimes there are time delays with the Meetup App. We typically wait for a few minutes if a person isn’t there, but if we don’t get any type of communication from you, we don’t know if you just are not showing up.
  • Know your fitness level. Most of our walks are a pretty quick pace (we ARE trying to get some good exercise.) If you have any questions about your ability to keep up, give us a call beforehand. We try to be accommodating for different levels, but some of the routes are long and can be circuitous. If you don’t feel like you can do all of the route, if you let us know ahead of time we can probably figure a plan for you to join parts of it. There is usually a link that will show a map for the regular routes in the event description.
