Description:
This is a flattened loop consisting entirely of sections of the TPT (Trans Pennine Trail). It is a mixed route comprising former railways, bridleways and other trails, plus a very small amount of minor roads.
We will stop for lunch at the Pantry Café in Elsecar Heritage Centre. There is public outside seating for those thrifty souls who wish to bring their own snap.
Type of ride: Off road
Technical difficulty: BLUE - (Moderate), nothing technical but there are bound to be some loose or slippery surfaces.
Physical difficulty: BLUE/RED - (Moderate to Difficult), mainly because of the distance and the fact that there are some hills - about 1,500ft total ascent.
Distance: 27 miles.
Estimated Ride Duration: 5 hours (including stops).
Suitable For: Mountain bikes and Hybrids or Gravel bikes with treaded tyres.
Recommendations: Spare Tube, Tools, Pump, Snacks, Water.
Safety: No Helmet = No Ride!
