PLEASE READ FULL DESCRIPTION.

A walk we haven't done for a couple of years, since the groups 5th birthday in Oct 2022.
We start at the Scotts Arms in the pretty village of Sicklinghall, making our way down the main street & along a quiet country lane into Stockeld Park. We then cross a field to pick up the Harland way (disused railway trackbed) which takes us into Spofforth where we'll have our lunch, before returning along a different route into Sicklinghall.

A relatively flat walk (the odd incline but no hills!) on quiet country lanes, good tracks & some stretches of pavement walking through the 2 villages.

PLEASE ONLY RSVP IF YOU THINK YOU WILL DEFINITELY ATTEND, & ARE COMFORTABLE WALKING AT A LEISURELY (SLOWISH) PACE. People who repeatedly RSVP yes then cancel their place WILL be moved to the waitlist (if we have one) & eventually removed from the group if this continues.

DO NOT ATTEND ON THE DAY IF YOU ARE FEELING UNWELL IN ANY WAY.

We will have a couple of 5 min drink breaks, & a longer break (20-30 mins) for lunch in Spofforth, where you can have a little wander around the Castle...which isn't actually a Castle, but the ruins of a fortified manor house, that is now managed by English Heritage as a tourist attraction, with the oldest remains dating back to the 13th century!

Meeting in the car park at the Scotts Arms at 10.45 to leave promptly at 11.00 please.

We are allowed to park in the pub car park (to a certain extent) but please park on the left hand side & only if you intend to stay for a drink after the walk. If not, please park considerately on the main street. We also recommend car sharing where possible, if you are happy to do so.

Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be on a lead where necessary & under close control AT ALL TIMES.

• What to bring

£2.00 walk fee if not a subscriber (please try to bring exact amount as we may not have change), waterproof coat, packed lunch(or why not try the corner shop who do an excellent range of sandwiches, pasties & pies, cakes etc), drink & snacks etc as required

Please remember that we are not insured, any member taking part in our walks does so at their own risk and remains responsible for their own safety.
Can we also please ask that you STAY WITH THE GROUP & DO NOT WALK OFF AHEAD OF THE EVENT HOST. As we'll be walking at a leisurely (slowish) pace, should anyone get too far ahead & take a wrong turn we will assume that you know the route & you will not be called back.
