What we’re about
Plumstead Friends Meeting invites you to meet with us for worship every Sunday at 9:30 am. Originally built in 1752, our sunlight-filled meeting house exudes peace and simplicity, without running water or electricity, just as it did when our predecessors worshipped.
The essential experience of Friends is that of a direct, unmediated relationship with the Divine. We meet weekly for an hour of silent prayer or meditation, only interrupted when the Spirit moves us. It’s an opportunity to connect with Spirit, or the Light Within, find balance in our lives and strive to be better people than when we entered. We are a welcoming community, with diverse religious backgrounds, experiencing God in our own way and without preaching or shame.
We strive to exemplify six tenets of Quaker faith within our daily lives and in our community:
SPICES - spirituality, peace, integrity, community, equality, stewardship
If you are looking for a community to belong to and maybe consider yourself more spiritual than religious, we would love to have you. ALL are welcome.
