event postponed due to crap weather this weekend.. the new date is not the set date.. keep a look out when the actual new date is set.. sorry everybody..

no newbies on this event, as there are no take outs along this trip.. you have to paddle the entire distance/route.. participant must have kayaking and backcountry camping experience!

\*\*this event is dependent on water levels.. this run is only doable from 2' below normal to 3' above normal..

plan to leave your house by 5:30 am to drive over to the kayaking start point at Pioneer Park, to drop off most of the members, yaks and gear.. two members will then drive two cars south about 16 minutes each way, to drop off and leave one car at the end point at Gardner boat ramp (google 940 River Road SW, Zolfo Springs, FL 33890).. then they will head back north together in one car and regroup at the start point.. the cars that stay here at Pioneer Park will have to pay for overnight parking, which I will call the park and find out how much.. so if possible, please carpool to save on cost... we will then saddle up, and paddle our happy butts south with the current, eventually finding a campsite along the river's edge after several hours of paddling.. set up camp/tents, have a campfire, eat, drink, be merry, then sleep... we will wake up early Sunday, eat some more, then paddle the rest of the way to the end/take out point, where we had left the single car the day before... then the drivers will head back up north to pick up the other car(s), and then head back to the end point again, to collect all of the yaks, gear, people, etc... then head home.. estimated paddling time each day will be anywhere from 5 - 5.5 hours, to cover the 19.5 miles, give or take.. should be an easy paddle going with the current..
bring your own kayak or canoe.. no inflatables on this trip, due to thorny plants/vines along the river, which may puncture the inflatables.. if you need a vessel, 6 single kayaks are available at $60 each for the event.. if you need a rental, please pay in advance via paypal.. please message me for the paypal email address..
\*\*\*\*you must be able to pack light, as all of your camping gear, water, food and personal items must be able to fit on and in these kayaks..

see the pictures posted for the actual kayak.. they are slim and fast, hence, not too much room for crazy or bulky camping items... there is a front hatch and rear cargo area for all of the needed items..
