What we’re about
What is a Therapist-Led Support Group?
A therapist-led support group is a safe space where 2 therapists facilitate individuals to come together to share their experiences, listen to others, and offer mutual support. In this group, we’ll create a supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings.
How it Works:
1: We will ask for a volunteer to take group time about what they are currently experiencing and want support with.
2: As a group we actively listen to the speaker other without judgment.
3: Personally we reflect on how the speaker’s experience resonates with our own lived experience.
4: If the speakers situation resonates with you, you are given the opportunity to offer words of encouragement, understanding and you can share how the topic has resonated with your lived experience.
Group Rules
To ensure a safe and therapeutic space for everyone, please follow these guidelines:
Confidentiality: What is shared in the group stays in the group.
Respect: Treat everyone with kindness and respect.
Active Listening: Pay full attention to the speaker.
Non-Judgmental: Avoid criticism and negative comments.
Self-Care: Prioritise your own well-being and take breaks as needed.
No Direct Advice: Avoid giving direct advice. Everyone's journey is unique, and what works for one person may not work for another. Instead, offer empathy, support, and encouragement.
By following these guidelines, we can create a supportive and empowering environment for all.
