What we’re about

Welcome to the Lexington Progressive and Inclusive Book Club. We are a welcoming group that celebrates the richness of human experience through literature. Our mission is to create a space where readers from all walks of life can come together to explore diverse perspectives, amplify marginalized voices, and foster meaningful conversations.

What we value:

Inclusivity First: We believe that every voice deserves to be heard. Our book selections encompass a wide range of genres, authors, and cultural backgrounds, ensuring a platform where everyone feels represented and valued.

Progressive Discourse: Our discussions go beyond the pages of the book. We delve into societal issues, challenge preconceptions, and strive to promote understanding and empathy. Together, we aim to contribute positively to the ongoing dialogue surrounding diversity and inclusion.

Safe and Respectful Environment: We prioritize creating a safe space for open dialogue. Respectful discourse is at the core of our interactions, and we actively encourage members to share their thoughts and experiences without fear of judgment.

Intersectionality: Recognizing the interconnectedness of various aspects of identity, we explore books that reflect diverse intersections of race, gender, sexuality, ability, and more. Our goal is to build bridges of understanding across different dimensions of diversity.

You don't have to read the chosen title to join our meetings (as long as you're fine with spoilers!). The book serves as a starting point for broader discussion, and at times, it's just a pretext for casual conversations or a board game. We're excited to have you join our upcoming book group meeting!

If you have specific accessibility needs, please let an organizer know and we will work to accommodate them.
