If Native American's history, their tools and weapons interest you, and you would rather participate than just watch, then the Silver River Knap-In and Prehistoric Arts Festival is for you. It's the largest event of its kind in the southeast and takes place on the third weekend of each February. Flint Knapping is the art of recreating ancient stone tools like spear points and arrow heads. Artisans from across the country attend this unique event to demonstrate making stone tools, pottery, traditional bows and arrows, hide tanning, shell carving, fire making and more. **Hands-on activities include archery, tomahawk and spear throwing ranges.**

This unique event includes displays of ancient Native American stone tools from Florida as well as an **archery range and hands-on activities**. Experts will give presentations on the prehistory of Florida. Vendors offer unique crafts, reproduction stone tools, flint knapping supplies and food for sale.

Don’t miss our newest museum exhibit Dugout Canoes: Paddling Through the Americas. This exhibit features Native American canoes from across North and South America; including several examples from Florida. **Exhibits are interactive with hands-on activities** for all ages.

Visitors can also tour the Silver River Museum, hike or bike the trails of the state park, or canoe and kayak on the pristine Silver River.

***The Silver Museum is located within the Silver Springs State Park in Ocala, Florida. Ocala can be reached easily via I-75 or State Road 40. The state park is located just east of Ocala at the intersection of State Road 40 and Baseline Road (also known as NE 58th Avenue and or County Road 35). To visit the museum, enter the state park from Baseline Road.***
