Up for a lovely hike along the shores of Lake George? Then check out this 1.9-mile out-and-back trail near Pierson, Florida. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 33 min to complete. This trail is great for birding, hiking, and walking, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. **Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.**

I chose the Blue Trail because it mentions a good deal of shade. If the weather isn't too hot we could also do the Yellow Trail, more sunny, to extend our time in nature.

The Blue Trail is the shorter trail at Lake George Preserve and is only open to foot traffic. This is a well-marked trail through a forest of mixed oak, pine, and palm along the eastern shore of Lake George. It's shaded all the way and gives plenty of scenic views of the lake and wildlife in the area. For those who wish to extend their hike, check out the Yellow Trail as well.

***HELPFUL DIRECTIONS***
**The preserve is accessed off Volusia County Road 3 and this trail is at the end of Nine Mile Point Road. Be aware that Nine Mile Point is a 4-mile long dirt road but it's graded well. There is also a fishing pier and covered picnic area near the trailhead. There is no admission fee for the preserve.**

Be sure to bring sunscreen, bug spray, chair, water, snack or bag lunch. We can spend a little time getting to know each other a bit, especially any new members who choose to attend.
