See all- C & O Canal - Great Falls, MDNeeds location
The Maryland side of Great Falls is a part of the C & O Canal National Historic Park and is located off of Falls Road in Potomac MD.
At Great Falls, the Potomac River builds up speed and force as it falls over a series of steep, jagged rocks and flows through the narrow Mather Gorge. There is a beautiful waterfall and we should get some great fall foilage.
There are two overlooks near the Great Falls Tavern Visitor Center. To the north, the Washington Aqueduct Observation Deck offers a view of the upper falls. To the south, the Olmsted Island Bridges offer several scenic views of the Great Falls. There are several hiking trails in this area. Some of the most spectacular up close views can be seen from the Billy Goat Trail. You should note that portions of the trail are very challenging and not appropriate for all visitors. The C & O Canal Towpath also runs through the park and is ideal for biking and jogging.
The Great Falls Tavern is The Visitor Center and open daily from 9 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
The price is confusing. It says the park is free but admission is $10-$20, so bring at least that much.
Visit www.nps.gov for more information. This is roughly a 1 1/2 hour ride each way. If you want to ride over together we can meet at McDonald's parking lot at 12pm. on the corner of Moravia Rd and Moravia Park Dr, If you live closer to the west side you might want to meet us out there.

700 N Calvert St, Baltimore, MD 21202 - A 1940's Christmas Carol7201 Rossville Blvd, Baltimore, MD
Step back in time for a heartwarming holiday experience. The long-awaited sequel to the popular The 1940's Radio Hour. It’s Christmas Eve, 1943, and the Feddington Players are now broadcasting from a hole-in-the-wall studio in Newark, NJ, and set to present their contemporary take on Dickens’s A Christmas Carol. Whether it’s the noisy plumbing, missed cues, electrical blackouts, or the over-the-top theatrics of veteran actor, but radio novice, William St. Claire, this radio show is an entertaining excursion into the mayhem and madness of a live radio show.
