After reading several Russian novels several decades ago I promised myself that I would never again read one. But people change and after seeing the recent epic movie Napoleon I decided to give it another try.
I am really enjoying it at five pages only a day. There are various translations and after some research I settled on the one by Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky. I think I made the right choice.
Per goodreads "In Russia's struggle with Napoleon, Tolstoy saw a tragedy that involved all mankind. War and Peace broadly focuses on Napoleon's invasion of Russia in 1812 and follows three of the most well-known characters in literature."
We have 1 year to read it so let's see who will accept this challenge into this classic Russian Literature.
