Tim’s walks: the Great Fire of London - the walking tour
Details
Join Tim as he takes you through the heart of the City tracing the route of the Great Fire of London of 1666. The conflagration changed london for ever, sweeping away the medieval city and introducing a recognisably modern London.
On this spectacular tour, we start from the area that Samuel Pepys called home, to where the fire started and we follow its path as it burned the city to the ground. We’ll see where it started in pudding lane and where it ended in Pie Corner and wonder whether it was god’s punishment for the din of gluttony. And who started the fire if it wasn’t God? Was it those pesky Catholics? Indirectly the fire led to the glorious revolution of 1688 and the end of the Stuart dynasty
We'll be talking about pandemics, crooked politicians and religious intolerance - so of no relevance to today's world!
Above all this is a great walk with wonderful views through the city of london
