What we’re about

This group is for anyone who wants to get fit, stay fit and learn self-defence but are unable to spend the years it takes to master a martial art. Give yourself a fighting chance on the streets. Techniques we teach work for everyone irrespective of gender, age or level of fitness. There is an initial 90 minute induction that covers an overview of the physical aspects of self-defence. There are then ongoing follow-on technique specific drilling sessions to master the techniques taught.

Based on Nippon Kempo
The workout is based on the original mixed martial art – Nippon Kempo as practised by Japanese police and army. It is recognised by the Japanese Department of Education as a physical education activity. Nippon Kempo has a unique approach. It is not based on a specific style but on sports science. This approach takes into account safe and correction preparation/warm up, plus the correct and safe use of joints and muscles. Through drilling , a realistic application of techniques is developed.

What Is Self-Defence
To defend yourself, you are allowed to use ‘reasonable force’ in the defence of yourself and others. However, unreasonable force may be classed as Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) and lead to criminal charges against you. GBH is causing really serious injury which severely affects the health of the victim such as broken bones or permanent disfigurement*. The techniques used in the workout are purely defence, evasion, escape and survival.
