Free language lesson and language exchange. We welcome all levels BEGINNER / INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED. A great way to meet new people and socialize.
If you are new to the group, no worries, we are an established friendly crowd. You will be greeted by one of our host who will introduce you to members and settle into a group.
Where do we meet - every Thursday, 6:30pm @ Ole & Steen cafe, Crossrail Place, Canary Wharf, beside Elizabeth line. A chance to grab a drink or one of the delicious cinnamon social danish pastries.
How does it work- when joining us let one of the hosts know what level of English you wish to practice At 7.00pm we break into classes between 4 - 6 people per group led by an instructor. There will be a topic for the session with new vocabulary. We work in pairs - questions and answers and then move on to a new member. The session will last for around 30 minutes and then there is a chance to practice your new vocabulary in the main group for approximately 15 minutes.
If you are attending for language exchange, this is the right group for you. We have friends and members from around the world. There are plenty of opportunities to practice and share languages. Typically we have members who want to exchange in FRENCH / SPANISH/ TURKISH/ CHINESE/ JAPANESE.
Ole & Steen serve great coffee and delicious baked goods and the sandwiches are tasty too. The coconut latte is worth trying. The atmosphere is chilled and nice place to relax during the evening.
When entering the cafe easy to spot us, we will be the large group mingling around one of the large central tables. If you are unsure, host contact is in the group chat.
We have many hosts as a lot of members pop in. If you are late no worries. If you are unable to attend please change your RSVP on the list to allow others to attend.
After the session, we usually go to one of the restaurants, bars. The after location is decided by the attendees for that evening so please try to arrive by 7:30 if you wish to join.
