What we’re about
London is home of the Monarch, the seat of Government and the centre of the financial industry. Its residents and visitors include the rich, the famous and the influential. When things happen in London, they get noticed. So it is no surprise that London has always been a prime target for those using violence to pursue political change.
We tend to think of terrorism as a modern phenomenon but London has been a target for terrorists for hundreds of years. From the Gunpowder Plot of 1605 to Islamist attacks in the 21st century; Anarchists from the 1890s to the 1970s; Irish Republicans from the 1860s to the 2000s and every shade of political extremism in between, London has seen and survived it all.
In these guided walks we explore the history of terrorism in London - how history made the attacks and how the attacks made history. If you're interested in politics, history, crime and punishment or just human stories, this group and these tours are for you.
What qualifies me to guide these tours? I am a former British Army bomb disposal operator, a historian and also a former comedian. So these tours will be authoritative and entertaining - but always respectful. Join me as we look at London in a different way.
