**A Year of News - with Stephen Sackur**

The last *New Lines* event of 2024 at the Frontline Club with Stephen Sackur, journalist, broadcaster and presenter of BBC *HARDtalk*.

Friday 6th of December, 7pm (doors open at 6.30pm) at the Frontline Club, 13 Norfolk Place, London, W2 1QJ.

Looking back at a year of events, people and politics with the journalist and presenter of BBC's *HARDTalk*.

As we approach the end of 2024, join us for an engaging Christmas conversation on a year of news. From the shockwaves of the US presidential election to the continued conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, this conversation at the Frontline Club will explore the events, personalities and politics that have defined the past twelve months.
Joining us to review the year will be Stephen Sackur, the presenter of *HARDTalk*, BBC World's flagship current affairs interview show.

Sackur has interviewed hundreds of political leaders, actors, artists and intellectuals over the years, including many of those involved in current events around the world: from British prime ministers like Boris Johnson to political leaders of the United States, the former Russian dissident Alexei Navalny, leaders of Israel and Palestine, and the current president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

He'll be joining us to discuss news from around the world, what it's like to put the hardest questions to people with power - and whether he has ever asked himself, in the words attributed to his fellow inquisitor Jeremy Paxman, “why is this lying [interviewee] lying to me?"
