Caravaggio & Chiaroscuro - Light and Shadow Workshop
Details
Today we'll be looking at the work of the Italian artist Caravaggio. Caravaggio adopted chiaroscuro in his paintings in the 16th century- his work beautifully combines a realistic view of the human state- physical and emotional- with a dramatic use of lighting.
Chiaroscuro is an Italian term referencing the contrast of light (chiar) and dark (oscuro) to model three-dimensional forms. It’s a style that has quite dramatic results and one that photographers can learn a lot amount about lighting from studying.
Join us for workshop in 2 parts:
Part 1: Informative session on the life and work of Caravaggio
Part 2: Shoot chiaroscuro style
Using the information from part 1 and viewing Caravaggio's work we will head out to capture high contrast images. Help will be provided where needed.
