What we’re about
If you love to dance, or love great live music, we welcome you with open arms. Meet one of the most fun and friendly dance communities in and around Rochester ~ "Rochester Cajun Zydeco Network". We host music and dance events from and inspired by Cajun and Creole cultures of SW Louisiana to best assure dancers and music lovers get a great taste for what Louisiana can deliver.
The music is lively and addicting. Once you're turned on to the rhythmic sounds of Zydeco you can't let it go. The groove comes from way down south where we dance in the street to a bayou beat. And once we put our Mardi Gras beads around your neck, you’re one of the family.
Before you know it, you'll start looking forward to the dances and celebrating with others your new found love for the unique Louisiana form of music that makes you feel good all over
No experience necessary ... we'll teach you. We always provide a SURVIVAL ZYDECO DANCE LESSON at the beginning of our shows so you can learn the basics. We even have Dance Ambassadors who will come dance with you and encourage you throughout your learning curve. Once you have the basics down, you'll find infinite ways to get creative, develop your own style, and improvise within the dance ... so things always stay fresh and interesting.
While Zydeco Dance is partner dancing, you don’t need a partner. Come as a couple ~ Come solo ~ All are welcome. Everyone here delights in dancing with everyone else … it’s a hallmark of our dance community. Before long you'll be making new friends, learning new moves, and finding your swamp soul.
This meetup is organized completely by volunteers whose passion is Zydeco, Cajun, and Creole music and dancing in all its forms and styles. We’re here to make it easier for you to find and join the many dance events in our area and around the country ... and to get you dancing like you never thought you could.

CURLEY TAYLOR’S MUSICAL JOURNEY:Curley Taylor was born and raised in Sun Set Louisiana and has been around music all of his life. At the age of 16 Curley started playing drums in his father's band, Jude Taylor & His Burning Flames, a band deep in Louisiana Blues, Soul and Zydeco. By age of 25, Curley had played drums with some of Louisiana's musical legends, including: CC Adcock, Steve Riley, John Hart, "L'il" Bob and the Lollipops, and his uncle’s, "L'il" Buck Senegal and Wayne "Blue" Burns. He toured with CJ Chenier, son of the "King of Zydeco" Clifton Chenier. His experience as a drummer emblazoned in Curley the fundamental importance of the lock down rhythm dancers crave. At 25 Curley hit the road with his own band “Zydeco Trouble” delivering Zydeco with a rich Gospel, Soul, Hip Hop-tinged sound.
In 2003 Curley was ready to make the move and launch his own band - Curley Taylor & Zydeco Trouble. His debut CD "Country Boy" was released to rave reviews. Artists familiar with Zydeco compared Curley's music to that of the late, great Beau Jocque. "It's a high compliment," Curley replied, "but Country Boy is only the start." Curley has been playing, touring and recording ever since. Since his debut CD, Curley has released six more CDs of original music, making him one of the most prolific composers in Zydeco. His latest project "Rise Up" was released in 2018.
Curley Taylor & Zydeco Trouble tour extensively throughout the US, playing festivals and clubs from New York to San Diego and from Florida to Seattle. Often playing to audiences who have never heard Zydeco music before, they make fans wherever they go. They've played major festivals including Rhythm and Roots in Ninigret RI, the Waterfront Blues Festival in Portland OR and Jazz Fest in New Orleans. When at home in Louisiana, you can find Curley in the studio working on his latest CD, or playing in one of the local clubs around the Lafayette/Opelousas area to the delight of his hometown fans.
His bluesy, soulful vocals and the band's hard driving Zydeco beat blend to create high-energy dance music for all audiences. Curley's music is true to its roots in Zydeco and Blues, but contemporary enough to appeal to a broad range of music lovers - Ruben Moreno & the Zydeco Re-Evolution - Returns to Harmony House - Sat April 19Harmony House, Webster, NY
