The first half of your adventure takes you back 3,000 years, as you explore Mayan artifacts and ceremonial alters by headlamp deep within sacred caves. Place two feet on the archaeological grounds of Xunantunich where a civilization of over 200,000 people thrived until mysteriously disappearing 1,000 years ago. #whoa

Learn to rappel and descend 250 feet from the top of a jungle waterfall, feeling ancient and brand new above the turquoise Caribbean sea. Emboldened by your sisters, zip-line 2.5 miles through Bocawina National Park over the jungle canopy. Tired and happy, retreat to a Rainforest Eco-Lodge powered completely by hydroelectricity, solar, and gal pal giggles.
The second half of your adventure whisks you away by boat – 36 miles to a remote island Glamping base camp, where you’ll set your clock to Ocean Time. The site, Glover’s Reef Marine Preserve, is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is 1 of only 4 atolls in the western hemisphere.

The turquoise waters are host to over 700 patch reefs and are among the richest, clearest tropical marine environments in the Caribbean. Grab snorkel gear and head out on a SUP to swim with sea turtles and colorful fish. Learn to work the wind to kayak sail to coral destinations. Master line fishing from a local Belizean guide and cook up your catch for dinner. OR just kick it in a hammock with a good book as the wind rocks you gently.
There WILL be dance parties as you learn Garifuna moves.

Fall sleep each night to the sound of the sea lapping the shore (but not before snapping an entire photo roll of your tent-walled cabana, equipped with real beds, wooden floors, a porch, and that essential ocean view right outside your screened door).

During the first half of your jungle adventure, you’ll explore Mayan ruins, navigate caves featuring 3,000-year-old artifacts, and immerse yourself in the Belizean Jungle embarking on new adventures each day.

WATERFALL RAPPELLING, ZIP-LINING, AND CAVING

Learn to rappel and descend 250 feet from the top of a waterfall with views as far as the turquoise Caribbean Sea. Zip-line 2.5 miles through Bocawina National Park over the jungle canopy enjoying Belize from a bird’s eye view. Then, channel your inner Indiana Jones as you strap on your headlamp and step back in time 3,000 years into the depths of a cave with Mayan artifacts and ceremonial alters.

MAYAN RUINS

To top it off, wander the archaeological grounds of Xunantunich. An ancient civilization of over 200,000 people thrived here until 1,000 years ago, when it was mysteriously abandoned. During your adventures on the mainland, stay in a Rainforest Eco-Lodge powered completely by hydroelectricity and solar with your gang of Explorer Chick gal pals.

SNORKELING, KAYAKING, AND SUP

On the second half of your Belize Jungle Tour Adventure, we’ll whisk you away from the mainland! Travel by boat 36 miles to a remote island Glamping base camp for the next 5 days and 4 nights.

Glover’s Reef Marine Preserve is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of only four atolls in the western hemisphere. The turquoise waters are host to over 700 patch reefs. It is one of the richest tropical marine environments in the Caribbean. The waters here are exceptionally clear because of its isolation from the mainland making it a utopia for spotting marine life and water activities. Hello, coral reefs and all the fishies! 🐠

Fill your days with water activities exploring your remote island paradise. Grab snorkel gear and head out on a SUP to swim with sea turtles and colorful fish. TORRES DEL PAINE – HIKING AT THE END OF THE WORLD

Torres del Paine National Park spreads across nearly 500,000 acres and is a hiker’s paradise. You will hike 40 miles of trails surrounded by soaring granite peaks, glacial lakes, and pristine rivers over the course of your adventure, including two sections of the famed W Trek: The Towers Base and French Valley along with hikes not often frequented by tourists.

GLACIERS AND KAYAKING

You will kayak amongst bergy bits in Grey Lake and paddle your way down the Grey River to the confluence of the Serrano, surrounded by epic views of Cuernos del Paine along the way. And Glaciers! TNP has loads of them – from the magical hanging glaciers of French Valley, to the face of the Grey Glacier, the largest glacier in the Southern Patagonia Ice Field.

PATAGONIA HORSES + ESTANCIAS

Estancias (ranches) are an integral part of Patagonian Gaucho culture. You’ll ride on a Criollo horse, a Patagonian breed adapted to the terrain across wide-open pampas, sleep for 2 nights in a cozy traditional Estancia, enjoy a traditional Patagonian BBQ (asado), and hike along beautiful trails to overlooks and vistas not seen from the National Park.

Patagonia is home to the largest puma population in the Americas. We’ll carefully and respectfully drive to these cats’ favorite hot spots and pause for all the photo ops. Other animal encounters on this adventure: the Colocolo cat, Geoffroy’s cat, condors, grey foxes, kestrel, tucúquere, flamingos, wetland fowl, wild horses, grazing cattle and even a sheep shearing demonstration with a working dog!

• DISCOVER REMOTE KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK

Fly to Kidepo Valley National Park, Uganda’s most remote game reserve that sits at the northernmost part of the country. You’ll step off the charter plane to an unspoiled, golden savannah to spy the most spectacular creatures you’ve only seen in zoos. Scramble above the clouds to the crest of Mount Morungole to spend time with the Ik tribe. Return to your luxury safari cottage where you can wash the day off in your own private outdoor bath while admiring wild zebras. Pinch me.

• HIKE THE RWENZORI MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK

Walk alongside the Munyambuli River and breathe in the most pristine forests on earth. We’ll start our journey through the gates of Queen Elizabeth National Park and hike a little over 7.8 miles to enjoy the quiet, sweeping views keeping our eyes peeled for monkeys.

• WALK AMONGST CHIMPS IN THE KYAMBURA GORGE

We’ll snag our knowledgeable guides and hike down to the Kyambura Gorge to the splashes and roars of wild hippo! We’ll track the calls of chimpanzees who have just finished breakfast, and are thumping to the forest floor to go about their days. Carefully but bravely, we’ll follow them through the forest to see how they live.

• CRUISE THE KAZINGA CHANNEL

Hop a 3-hour boat ride down a Channel that contains the world’s largest concentrations of hippos, Nile crocodiles, buffalo, elephants and all kinds of birds. It’s like Universal Studios only REAL. Keep your cameras angled at the water!

• TRACK LIONS, LEOPARDS AND HYENAS

We’ll team up with Uganda Carnivore Program to learn about their big cat conservation efforts. Scientists jump into our Land Cruisers and using radio-telemetry, we’ll track the movements of these predators inside Queen Elizabeth National Park.

• GORILLA TREK IN BWINDI NATIONAL PARK

Maybe the crown jewel of the trip? Of your life? Of anything? Our guide will machete a path through the impenetrable forest to give us a glorious hour hearing, seeing (and sometimes smelling) the majestic movements of a local gorilla clan. There will be tears. You will leave this tour changed.

• DIRECTLY SUPPORT LOCAL WOMEN

One of our homestead stays benefits the fearless women of Ride 4 a Woman. We’ll stay with the organization leaders and help support job creation, clean water and teaching women new skills. The chance to sit and speak with these she-ros is a once in a lifetime opportunity. We couldn’t think of a better place to cook alongside our hosts for our farewell BBQ dinner.

• HOP CHARTER FLIGHTS AND SKIP THE LONG DRIVES

We charter planes to reach the remote, less visited regions and to skip the long drives that can take up entire days. Hey, you didn’t come to Uganda to waste time watching the asphalt wiz by from a Land Cruiser window. We fly to Kidepo, Queen Elizabeth, and back to Entebbe from Bwindi.
