What we’re about
The Louisville Hiking Club is a non-profit organization that was created for people who enjoy being outside and socializing with like-minded people. The club was formed in November 1928 by the then mayor of Louisville, William B. Harrison. It was originally started by the Municipal Department of Recreation so was called the Louisville Municipal Hiking Club. The first hike was at Iroquois Park. In October 1934, the Louisville Hiking Club was organized with its own slate of officers to plan its programs and determine policy. We hike every weekend and also take 3 weekend trips a year to various state parks in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and Tennessee.
