Do you like helping families in need? Do you LOVE organizing? This volunteer opportunity is perfect for you! We receive donations of new and gently used baby and children’s clothes, toys, books, diapers, formula, baby gear, small household goods, etc., and we need help to keep it all organized.
Help us to sort incoming donations, clean them, organize and store them so we know exactly what we have in our resource center when a family facing distress needs a delivery.
Skills Needed:
•Ability to work independently and take direction
•Dependable and committed to your scheduled shift
•Able to lift, carry and move boxes/bags of donations (up to 50 lbs)
Responsibilities:
•Liaise with team lead regarding what donations need to be sorted and where they should be placed
•Sort, fold, test, tag and put donations in appropriate bins
•Launder/Clean donations when necessary
•Repackage diapers
•Dust & Wipe donation shelves
•Keep track of donations we are low on and in need of
•Ensure donations are well organized and sorting area kept tidy
•Other related tasks as needed
***Please do not park in our loading zone! There is plenty of free street parking in the neighbourhood.
- You must sign-in, read, agree and initial the Notice of Risk form at the Resource Centre prior to starting your volunteer shift AND sign-out at the end of your volunteer shift!
- After this volunteer shift, clean up includes wiping all counters, sweeping the floors, taking out the garbage and recycling etc.
- AT THIS TIME WE ARE NOT ALLOWING UNREGISTERED GUESTS. (Normally - Guests of registered volunteers may attend ONE volunteer activity - then must register as a volunteer to attend further sessions)

PLEASE NOTE:
COVID-19 / Coronavirus We have set the volunteer numbers for each event to a maximum that we are comfortable with to allow for physical distancing.
Please DO NOT COME if you are wait-listed.
If you, or someone who shares your home, or someone you have been in contact with, has been feeling sick, especially with a fever, had signs of lower respiratory illness, such as a cough, runny nose, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, or if you have recently returned from out of country travel; please DO NOT volunteer with us, do not bring us donations, or come to the Resource Centre for any reason for a minimum of two weeks.
All volunteers must practice hand-washing hygiene & surface sanitizing throughout your shift.
Mask wearing is mandatory! And a minimum of 6 feet of physical distancing should be maintained at all times.
We require your cooperation during these times when we can protect one another and those around us. Our priority is the health and well-being of our community & their families, and the primary focus of these measures is to minimize everyone’s risk of exposure.
