Madison Women 50+ Downtowners

Let's listen to Wisconsin musicians, dressed in their holiday garb, performing at Delta Beer Lab. We'll celebrate the holiday season with carols, holiday movie favorites, and classical repertoire, in a modern craft brewery. Feel free to join in during the sing-along for some festive good cheer to start off your December. Plus meet some new women friends over 50!

Because this is an evening event, we do invite our members to bring a spouse, friend or partner, if they would like. Admission is FREE but we encourage you to buy a beer, cider, or non-alcoholic craft soda. While our daytime events are women only, we understand that many women prefer to bring a companion to a nighttime event.

Let's share a full breakfast at the Premiere Park Hotel downtown at the Post Restaurant on Capital Square. Afterwards, those willing can walk together for 3 blocks to the Monona Terrace to visit the free exhibition of Wisconsin photographer Zane Williams. His works feature the growth of Madison in the last few decades, and he compares his urban photos with the works of urban photographer Angus McVicar from the 1920s to the ’50s (by shooting at the same locations). See how much Madison has changed, while meeting new women friends at this event!

The FREE photo exhibit is on Level 4 – Promenade East of Monona Terrace. All attendees pay for their own breakfast. Some attendees might be interested in knowing where the bike elevator is, at the Monona Terrace, if you live in the area. It's a convenient way to get down to the waterfront, and your host can point it out to you.

Enjoy wings ($8 for 6) at Happy Hour at the Boathouse, which is part of the Edgewater hotel, just north of Capital Square. Join women friends for holiday cheer, a nice view of the lake, and share a story of your family holiday traditions (present or past). Disabled access is available, which we recommend if it's an icy day.

You may reach the Boathouse from steps by the road at the intersection of Langdon St and Wisconsin Ave. It is a 3 block wall from Capital Square though there is an uphill climb from the Square to the Edgewater. It is also served by bus 81.

Access without Steps: Enter the Edgewater Hotel at its main entrance. Walk by the check-in attendants on right, and proceed to the elevator bank nearest check-in. You are on Floor 6. Go to Floor 3. Exit the elevator. You will see a very long connecting hallway as shown in the accompanying photo. Walk down the hallway to the next elevator. Enter it, and go to Floor 1. You will enter at the Boathouse pub and no steps are required.
