What we’re about
Madison isn't all young adults, some of us are over 50, but young at heart! If you live on or near the isthmus, are over 50, and are seeking new friendships, join us. We'll meet primarily between 10am - 5pm, with some events in early evenings. Are you retired? still working from home? caregiving for a spouse and need an outing? new to the area? looking for friends to meet up with to enjoy the farmers markets, trips to the library, music on the terrace, walks to galleries? recovering from an injury and need to get back into your groove? Join this group of locals in downtown Madison WI.
P.S. If we meet in a coffee shop or restaurant consider buying a drink or appetizer.

See all- Using the Bus - Madison Sourdough for Coffee and Chazan UW Art Museum (optional)Novo Apartments - Lobby Vestibule, Madison, WI
Learn to use the bus and have a fun outing! We'll use Google maps to guide our travels, and get great pastries or fresh bread at Madison Sourdough. We'll return by bus to downtown, and you may optionally elect to continue on with us to a free visit to the Chazen Art museum, also by bus. Learn how to see where the stop is, and which bus number or letter you should board, all in Google Maps (a phone app). Do it with no stress by learning with others.
We will not use the new "A" line rapid transit bus, to avoid needing (or buying) a fare card. All you will need are one dollar bills. It will be $2 to go from downtown to Madison Sourdough and back or $1 if you are over 65 or using a mobility aid. If you want to come to the art museum bring another $2 for the return leg to your car. Do not expect change!
Your host is particularly interested in the Chazen studio glass exhibit: Glass exhibit details here
WHERE: Bring an umbrella if it rains. We will meet in the lobby vestibule of the NOVO apartments directly across from the Embassy Suites hotel entrance, on 216 S Pinckney St, downtown.
DURATION: We should be done with the coffee trip and back downtown in under 2 hours. If going to the museum, allow more time.
BUS LEARNING DETAILS: You will learn how to tell if a bus is delayed, or how to tell when the NEXT bus will show, and how to know exactly where to wait for the bus, which bus line to use, how to track the bus during travel, where to get off, and how to request a transfer pass which can save you money. A transfer ticket lets you get on another bus for free as long as you do it in the next two hours. Great if you are doing a short shopping trip, as you won't incur a fare on your return trip.
