Magical Ahwatukee Book Club: August Book Selection

Details

Welcome to the Magical Ahwatukee Book Club! This group is for book lovers in the Ahwatukee (Phoenix AZ) area who are interested in exploring magical and fantastical worlds through books, study, and discussion. Join us to read and dissect a wide range of magical and fantasy books, share our thoughts and theories, and connect with fellow bookworms who share our passion for all things magical and enchanted. Let's embark on this magical journey together.

The Magical Ahwatukee Book Club meets the 3rd Thursday of every month.

We meet in-person at my home in Ahwatukee (Phoenix AZ). Directions will be provided to people who are accepted into the group and RSVP.

The meeting starts at 7:30pm and ends at 9:00pm.

Space may be limited.

The book for August 15, 2024 is Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco.

GROUND RULES:
RSVP. Let us know if you’ll be able to make it to the meeting and be sure to update your RSVP if your availability changes.
ARRIVE ON TIME. Don’t keep the other club members waiting!
READ (or listen to) THE BOOK! If you haven’t finished the book please read a couple of detailed synopses and be prepared to hear spoilers. It’s not cool to keep everyone else from talking about the ending of the book just because you didn’t finish.
COME PREPARED. Spend some time before the meeting thinking about the book. Bonus points for bringing discussion questions.
SPEAK UP. Contribute to the discussion!
LISTEN TO OTHERS. Your fellow book club members want to hear your opinion — but they also want to hear everyone else’s. Don’t interrupt or dominate the discussion.
BE HONEST. Most of us join a book club because we want a richer reading experience through discussion. That can only happen when we share what we really thought or felt about a book. It’s completely fine to dislike — or even hate — a book that someone else loves. Having different tastes in books is part of what makes book clubs fun.
BE RESPECTFUL. You can disagree with someone, but always do so respectfully. Ask questions. Avoid personal attacks. And keep an open mind.
HAVE FUN! Why are we book clubbing if we’re not having fun?
