Woodturning Certification

This class is perfect for those who have little or no experience on a wood lathe and successful completion of this class will grant access to the lockout codes for this equipment in the Make Salt Lake woodshop. We will learn how to use the Craftsman Lathe, Jet Lathe.

We will be reviewing;

• How to use the bandsaw to cut your material to size
• How to safely place your material on the lathe
• Tool selection (turning tools and chucks)
• Proper tool techniques (the "how and why" of making tools perform properly)
• Fundamentals of cutting (shearing versus scraping; which is best and when)

For this class we encourage you to bring safety glasses, and hearing protection. If you do not have your own we have supplies onsite for purchase.
