People's History Museum & Manchester Central Walk for World Peace βπ
Update 15/11/2024:
*Meeting at the People's History Museum at 3pm tomorrow, the host Cindy Baxter will be at the museum early at 2:30pm to speak with a local journalist student who is interested in writing a piece about the peace efforts before the event starts. The meeting point at 3pm will be at the Peace Doves Statue just outside the People's History Museum - Cindy will be wearing a black coat with a white dove badge & a red poppy badge. Don't forget to bring a peace badge with you or wear something peace related and/or bring some flowers, flameless candles or white glow bracelets/glow sticks if you want to bring some - which is entirely optional. If anyone wanted to bring a guitar or other musical instrument & sing some peace, social justice or climate justice related songs on the walk you're welcome, we'll see if we can fit in some time for some music.
If anyone gets lost on the day and needs directions to get to the People's History Museum please call the museum on 0161 838 9190.
For those on the waitlist, you are welcome to just attend on the day.
We ask that everyone treats each other with respect. Any harassment or abuse towards others will not be tolerated & you may be asked to leave the group temporarily or permanently, in serious cases the police may be called. If anyone at any point feels uncomfortable due to someone else's behaviour during the event advise the host discreetly please. We want this to be a safe space for everybody & for everyone to feel comfortable to be able to learn more about Manchester the 'City of Peace' & home of many major people's movements throughout history. Manchester is a very significant city historically.
This event is open to everyone whether you are a Manchester local or just visiting Manchester temporarily.
Hope to see you there!

IPS Event Description:
Come join the Manchester International Peace Society (IPS) Meetup Group at 3pm Saturday for a visit to the People's History Museum followed by a Peace Walk along the Manchester Peace Trail through Manchester City Centre. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life and join our Museum visit & walk to learn about the Peace History of Manchester, the 'City of Peace' as it is known, & to call for World Peace.
This event is free and open to all who seek a moment of calm, inner peace and wish to join with likeminded people to promote a positive culture of peace throughout the streets of Manchester and beyond. Let's come together to cultivate inner peace, call for both Domestic Peace & International Peace and spread lots of positive energy in our community!
IPS are not collecting donations at this event, you will not be asked for money - this event is entirely free & is simply to raise awareness for Peace causes, help people to find likeminded souls who also just want some peace & to call for World Peace.
Event Details:
- We will start at the People's History Museum at 3pm (including a visit to the Doves statue outside the People's History Museum)
- We will then around 5pm walk along the Manchester Peace Trail backwards (starting at the People's History Museum & ending at Albert Square)
- The Manchester Peace Trail pdf can be downloaded onto your phones and read along to as we walk
- You can bring tall flameless candles with you π― (flameless to avoid fire hazards & safety risks & the rain) and/or glow sticks/glow bracelets/glow necklaces - we will have a few of these to give out, but please do bring your own in case we run out
- You can bring flowers instead of flameless candles or glow sticks if you prefer
Amidst growing international instability and threats to global Peace, the time has come to put aside any differences & simply walk to hope that the light will overcome this darkness of increasing wars & conflicts in the world, regardless of what faith people practice or do not practice - all are welcome. The founder Cindy is Agnostic, but believes firmly in peace and in the light overcoming darkness.
