Hayfield Walk (9 miles)

Details

A beautiful 9 mile walk from Bowden Bridge Car Park (which is a pay and display car park, coins only) located in an old quarry near Hayfield, which is the start point of the 1932 Mass Trespass on Kinder Scout. I have graded it as (Moderate) because there are some steep inclines, however we will do the walk at a (Leisurely pace). We will meet at 10:15am for 10.30am prompt start. It is a beautiful walk and there are some lovely views. We will first head towards Kinder Bank along the Kinder Road where we will continue past the remains of Kinder village in near by fields and walk towards Booth Bridge.

We will then pass Booth Bridge and Sheep Wash and follow a bridleway up the hill at White Brow alongside the Kinder Reservoir, until we reach Snake Path at the foot of William Clough. We will then follow the path up William Clough until we reach the crossroads where we will turn right to follow the Pennine Way towards Sandy Hays where there are beautiful views over Yorkshire to the North, Cheshire to the West and Wales beyond. We will then venture across to Kinder Downfall where it is very picturesque with rocky buttresses and cascading water.

We will then continue along the Pennine Way to the Kinder Low Trig point rising to over 630 metres. Afterwards we will take the Edale Road to the left and then join the fields up until we reach Kinder Road where we will visit the Sportsman Inn for a drink or for those who wish to eat, food is served from 12pm until 6.30pm on a Sunday. It is then just over half a mile walk back down the road to the Bowden Bridge Car Park.

Please come prepared for any weather ! No jeans . Rucksack, walking boots, walking poles, waterproofs, lunch and drinks and any medicines that you may need for the day. Walking 9 miles in the countryside is not entirely without risk and so please be aware that attendees are responsible for ensuring appropriate fitness, clothing and supplies.
