Mankato Toastmasters Weekly Meeting

Details

We are located in southern Minnesota serving the Mankato/North Mankato MN metro area and surrounding communities.

Mankato Toastmasters Club #175 usually meets in-person every Thursday (except major holidays or extreme weather events) from 5:30-6:30 PM in Mankato area. Consult our website for weekly location information: https://175.toastmastersclubs.org/

For over 80 years, we have been helping people just like you to achieve their professional and personal goals.

We are diverse in age, gender, faith, and philosophy. We come from places near and far, all around the U.S. and the world. We are and are not limited to lawyers, engineers, IT professionals, business owners, client relationship specialists, and retirees.

We provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.

Guests are always welcome! Plan to visit and experience a Toastmaster meeting. For login information, please send us a message (via "Contact Us" on the upper lefthand side of our webpage). You may also check us out on Facebook!

We look forward to welcoming you to Mankato Toastmasters!

What to Expect
We promise a smile at every meeting. Guests are always welcome. There is no pressure to participate or join. Our club strives to help every member improve their speaking and leadership skills while having fun in a mutually supportive environment!

In addition to presenting prepared speeches, members have the opportunity to participate in other speaking exercises.

One of these is Table Topics, an impromptu speaking exercise that helps members learn to think on their feet. The Table Topics Master poses a question to the audience and then picks someone to respond. (As our guest, you may simply observe!)

There are also opportunities to lead meetings by taking on key roles. One role is the Toastmaster, who is the master of ceremonies of the meeting.

Evaluators provide feedback on speeches. In this role, the club member develops better listening and critiquing skills.

Each role in a meeting has a specific educational purpose to aid in self-improvement and skill development. When you attend as our guest, we will explain and demonstrate the “grammarian”, the “ah counter”, and other meeting roles.

History
The Toastmasters Club of Mankato Minnesota, number #175, was founded November 20, 1940. Our guest book has signatures dating back to 1951, although we now ask for e-mail addresses instead of home addresses. The club charter was signed by Sheldon M. Haydon (president) and Ralph C. Smedley (secretary). The Mankato chapter is the fifth oldest Toastmasters club in Minnesota and among the oldest in the nation. The first Toastmasters club was created in Santa Ana, CA, in 1924.
