Apopka Wildlife Drive Field Trip - Paid Members Only
Details
Join Marion Audubon Society on a member-only evening excursion to Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive, limited to 12 seats. This beautiful dive boasts around 300 species of birds and provides excellent opportunities to view alligators, otters, and dozens of other native Florida species.
During this time of the year, many wintering birds make their final movements into and through Florida. Ducks, raptors, warblers, and many other species stay along the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive through the season, and our trip leader, Maxfield Weakley, will attempt to get our group on as many of these as possible and share his knowledge on identifying some of these tricky ducks. Chances for Northern Pintail, Gadwall, Northern Harrier, several sparrows, and Peregrine Falcon are promising around this time, along with the resident herons, egrets, and hawks.
We will meet at the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive - Finale, Chase Rd, Mt Dora, FL 32757 (https://maps.app.goo.gl/oWmwTHdar5nqjpES6) at 2:00 PM to carpool through the drive. We will leave for the drive's entrance at 2:30 PM sharp. The gates to the Wildlife Drive close at 3:00 PM on the dot, so don't be late! Bring your binoculars, camera, water, and snacks since we will be out until dusk (around 6:00 PM).
Sign up quickly before all the seats are gone!
