**Let's take a DYNAMIC HIKE to burn off some of the turkey and pumpkin pie! We will hike up to the Mason Dixon Line in Rocky Gap State Park. Along the way we will hike by the Lake, cross the Dam, and visit Evitt's homesite.**

From Frederick, MD: Take I-70 north to Hancock, MD. Merge onto I-68. After passing through Flintstone, MD, look for exit to Rocky Gap State Park. Coming into the park, you will take a left on Old Hancock Road, and come all the way to the end. The trail parking is at the end of the road.

**Bathrooms:** Port-o-potty at the trail head

**Route/Length/Terrain:** *This is a “Dynamic” 7-mile hike!* We start by taking the Lakeside trail past the dam, then begin a long ascent up the mountain. We will stop at Evitt’s Homesite, then continue up to the Mason-Dixon Line, and a nice view! Hiking poles recommended for this hike.

**Pace:** We will take it a pace comfortable to everyone.

**Breaks:** Breaks will be taken as needed.

**What should you wear?** Layers of breathable clothing, no cotton. A wind breaker to wear over layers. It can be cold and windy at the top! Wear comfortable walking shoes/boots, no sandals.

**What should you bring?** At least 2 - 3 liters of water, lunch/snacks (if it is cold, then hot soup in a thermos is a great idea!), electrolytes, basic first aid supplies. Hiking poles recommended. Have supplies to go to the bathroom in the woods. This includes toilet paper, trowel, hand sanitizer, and a ziploc to pack out paper.

**Are dogs allowed?** Leashed canine companions are welcome. Be sure your pup is ready for a strenuous hike. You are responsible for packing out any dog poo, providing snacks, and properly hydrating your pup.

**Inclement weather/cancellation plan:** If there is reason to cancel the hike, then I will let you know the night before. However, unexpected storms can roll in! Check MeetUp before coming to the hike for any last minute info from the hike leader.
