What we’re about
Whether your goal is to overcome a fear of public speaking, to take your presentation skills from where they are now to where you want them to be, or to strengthen your leadership skills through leadership programs and networking, Toastmasters is the place to be.
Stop in and visit a McKinley Toastmasters Club meeting, free of cost, and see how Toastmasters can help you. (http://mckinley.toastmastersclubs.org/)
For over 75 years, McKinley Toastmasters Club has been THE place in Champaign-Urbana for people to improve their communication skills, develop the leadership skills they desire, and increase their ability to influence others through confident public speaking.
Priding ourselves on diversity, we welcome adults of all walks of life, all ages (18 and up), and from all neighboring communities.
At Toastmasters, new members learn the art of public speaking by completing Toastmaster Pathways speeches. Each speech features basic speaking skills such as how to organize a speech, how to use props or visual aids, how to use voice inflections, and how to persuade or inspire your audience.
Table Topics is a fun segment of every meeting that helps participants build skills for thinking on their feet. These are impromptu opportunities to speak for 1-2 minutes on a given subject.
Besides mastering the art of public speaking, we also have plenty of time to chit-chat, network, and develop great friendships.
Come and join us sometime, so you can experience our friendly environment and see if McKinley Toastmasters Club is right for you.
