What we’re about
The Kosala Mahayana Buddhist Center provides authentic Buddhist instruction, including calming and illuminating meditation practices and coherent philosophical and spiritual teachings with lively discussions. This tradition comes out of Tibet and now has teachers and centers around the globe. The Kosala Center opened in Carrboro in 2006.
We charge $10 for classes to cover rent and expenses, but no one is turned away for lack of funds. Come enjoy our beautiful meditation space, free tea, and many books.
The group meets at 711 West Rosemary Street above Carrburrito's restaurant. Please come! Everyone is welcome!

Each class includes guided meditations, teachings on Buddhist thought, and discussion. Since these drop-in classes are designed both as a series and as stand-alone classes, you are welcome to attend each week or at any time. No prior experience or commitment is required.
Current class series :
Meditations on Death and Life: How to Bring About a Life of Joy
Students can drop in at any point in this 6-part series exploring Buddhist teachings on dying.
What is death? What happens to the mind at the time of death? And is there an after...?
What is life really about? How can we live in a way that is really meaningful? How can our life truly make a difference in the world?
Students will learn practical meditations that will bring us closer to love for life and peace with death.
Everyone is welcome!
