Printmaking class (Etching)
Details
JThis event is for beginners but all levels are encouraged and welcome!
Etching is a form of Printmaking. Etching is a multi-step process. We will guide you through each step, landing with a finished piece.
To start, we will apply a soft ground to the zinc plate, scribing our image through the ground, exposing the metal plate. We will then etch into the metal by using acid.
With our drawing now complete this is where the ink will come in. A large in-studio printing press will be used to pull the ink out and onto the paper.
All materials are included in our four week series. We will be using black ink and each student will be given 10 sheets of paper to print on. Students are welcome to bring additional paper, if desired.
If you’re familiar with this way of printing, and you would like to bring your own plate, ink and/or tools you’re more than welcome to.
Classes will be 4 weeks long, held on consecutive Thursdays from January 9th to January 30th. Please send a photo of what you would like to work from to [email protected] . Please send photo 4 days before class starts on the 1/9
