HIKE DESCRIPTION: Join me on a scenic hike in Golden Gate Park. We will walk through the entire park to Great Highway and back. This is a big loop. We take different routes on the way back. A few highlights: Conservatory of Flowers, AIDS memorial, redwood meadow, 10 lakes, 2 windmills, Bison Patch, Strawberry Hill, Hilly Billy Hill to name a few.

The easiest way to get to the start is to take the N muni line towards ocean beach. Get off at Stanyan and walk down a couple of blocks.
If you decide to drive, note that the area is mostly residential parking but there is a parking lot with a fee next to the pavilion.

We will take a short lunch break at the Queen Wilhelmina Garden which is located just a few steps away from the Beach chalet.

We will start promptly at 9:30AM and should be finished by 2:30 pm. Should you run into trouble before the hike, feel free to contact me at 415.710.3310.

HIKE RATING: Moderate, 12 miles, 1000 ft of climbing.

HIKING PACE: **Important 2.5-3 mph.** If you don’t have recent experience accomplishing a hike of this distance and difficulty and at this pace, please consider joining us another time. It is recommended that you obtain a map at the beginning of the hike in case the group is separated.

WHAT TO BRING: Sturdy hiking shoes or trail runners, 2 liters of water, snacks or lunch, layered clothing, hiking poles if you use them.

DOGS ALLOWED?

BATHROOMS: a few locations along the way but none at the start.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:
Please use the Google Maps link above to familiarize yourself with the trip. It is good practice to confirm the night before that any app you use takes you to where you expect. Print out the driving directions if you are unfamiliar with the area. Many parks are in areas with poor cell service, so DO NOT rely completely on your smartphone's GPS. Most street addresses provided are approximate.

WAIT LIST PRIORITY: Those who have hiked with East Bay Ramblers regularly will be given priority when they are on the wait list.

Note that we don’t allow guests. Everyone needs me be a member and join the hike in order to participate.

NO SHOWS: If you sign up for an event but do not show up, you may be removed from subsequent events in favor of someone on the waitlist. Repeated last-minute RSVP changes to “no” are as good as no-shows.

EARLY DEPARTURE: If you decide to leave a hike early, you must inform the group leader.
