What we’re about
Welcome to The Philosophy Book Club where we passionately engage with some of the most influential works and thinkers in history. Beginners, autodidacts, and graduates are welcome as we explore topics such as: Ethics, Political Philosophy, Metaphysics, Epistemology, Psychology, and more!
In person reading events are hosted monthly (or every 4-5 weeks) on Saturdays for 2 hours. Readings are decided at each in-person gathering for the following event. You are always welcome (and encouraged) to bring future suggestions to the events you attend. In these groups we work through our monthly read as a collective.
If you are unable to read the works in advance you are still welcome to join and participate in discussion. If you do not feel comfortable engaging with the group, you can still attend and listen in.
Attendees are responsible for finding copies of the books themselves. However, if free online versions of texts are available they will be posted in the event details.
Online events are hosted by Philosophy majors/academics and range from discussions and lectures to study groups. Online events may have their own rules and guidelines. Please consult the event details and contact the appropriate host with any further questions or concerns.
I hope that you will join us as we take on profound and perplexing questions regarding meaning, nature, being, love, reality and community.
Community Guidelines:
Our book club aims to maintain a safe and inviting space for others. This will be achieved by adhering to the following principles:
- Criticism: When challenging ideas or arguments, focus on the content not the individual.
- Safe Space: refrain from hate speech and discrimination during discussions.
