KNOBSTONE TRAIL HIKE PART I - LEOTA TRAILHEAD

This is a challenging hike! Meet at the Leota Trailhead on the KT (see directions below). From there we will take a shuttle (fee) to where we will start the hike. The shuttle will drive us to new 56 (not old 56) where the KT crosses the highway. From there we will hike 10.75 miles back to the Leota TH where our cars await us. Bring plenty of water, snacks/lunch, trekking poles, hiking boots or sturdy trail shoes. Directions from Indy: From I-465 S take I-65 south to exit 29. Then go west on SR 56 about 4 miles, then south on Zion Rd for about 1 mile. Turn right and go another mile on Stagecoach Rd, then right on W. Leota Rd, a little over a mile up the hill and the Leota Trailhead is on the right off E. Saylor Rd. Reminder: To reserve a seat on the shuttle, please RSVP that you plan to hike. Meetup guests are always welcome and there is no fee to hike with us but please no pets. Meetup attendees will be joined by members of the Indianapolis who do not have to sign up for the hike on Meetup. Expect to start promptly at 9:00 so don't be late.
