Please join us for a talk on gnosis, direct experiential knowledge of the consciousness.
“Solstice” is derived from the Latin sol (sun) and sistere (to stand still).
On the Winter Solstice the sun reaches its southernmost position as seen from the Earth, and seems to stand still at the Tropic of Capricorn before continuing northward on December 25th/Christmas.
This is profoundly symbolic of the processes of the regeneration of the soul, celebrated in the Christian tradition of Christmas and also seen in winter religions worldwide.
