This is an annual tradition! El Paso County Search and Rescue (EPCSAR) hosts a January 1 run event (5k/10k) to start your year off right! The race motto is “Rain, Snow, or 20° Below,” so be prepared for anything.

Run sign up fees are donations to EPCSAR. These are the folks who rescue people on the Incline all summer and drive the snow machines to get folks out of their cars in a blizzard. They do not charge for their services and are mostly volunteer staff.

I'm signed up for the 10k. I'm not sure I'll be able to, and it'll certainly be walking, but... I’d love to see friendly faces at the starting line!

The race STARTS at 10am - please arrive early! This race is often VERY cold and due to self-pacing, there will not be a post-run reconnection (when you finish, go get warm and dry!).

START TIME: 5K and 10K start together at 10:00 am. If you prefer a more spread out start, or need a few extra minutes, the start will be available for approximately 10 minutes after the group starts. Please cross starting line timing mats by 10:10 am
REGISTRATION: No race day registration. Online registration ends Dec 31, 6:00 pm Mountain Time.
TRAIL CONDITIONS: Please expect ice in places on trails, and especially wooden bridges. There are shaded areas down near the creek which will hold ice from any recent snow. Wearing shoe traction is at your discretion
